Sit-to-Stand Manual and Powered lifters (sometimes referred to as SARA Lifters) are typically used with patients that have partial weight-bearing capabilities. The sit-to-stand lifters maneuver the upper body of the patient and requires the patient to use some leg strength in conjunction with the lifter mechanism. The patient places their knees against the lifter's knee pad and using contra weight (pressure) the lifter boom raises the patient into a standing position. There is a non-slip footplate that the patient stands on while in transition. The patient's cognitive awareness and cooperation help make the use of this equipment possible and much less intrusive than traditional lifters. Special slings for the Stand-Up Lifter can be found in the sling section.
